Representative Mike Garcia (CA-27) joined Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria to discuss rising crime in California and the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) growing threat.

Rising Crime in California:
  
“This is in the wake of the Defund the Police movement. The criminals are basically now harvesting the fruits of soft-crime policies and elected officials that have been effectively turning a blind eye to this behavior for a few years now.

“We are in a county where our district attorney has forgotten that the ‘D’ in ‘DA’ is district attorney and not defense attorney. We have a gentleman named Gascon who is behaving like the penguin of Gotham City when it comes to crimes like this…It’s devastating to see our beautiful state turn into what it has because of these policies and elected officials not doing their jobs.”

Combatting the CCP:

“As a former naval officer, seeing our sailors, in this case Mr. Wei and Petty Officer Wenhen Zhao, giving technical data and export-controlled data and information on combat ships to our peer adversary China is one of the most flagrant offenses I’ve seen of espionage. 

“This type of behavior needs to be condemned and charged and punished to the fullest extent of law, both UCMJ and within federal domains as well. We can’t tolerate this, we can’t encourage this, and it’s just another indication that China’s in our knickers in all domains.”
