Representative Mike Garcia (CA-25) released the following statement after he cosponsored the bipartisan Veterans in Parks Act, or the VIP Act. This legislation would provide free access to all National Parks and public lands for any current military servicemembers, veterans, and Gold Star Families.

“As we approach the 245th birthday of our nation and celebrate what it means to be an American, we must also take the time to thank the brave men and women who fought for the freedoms we hold dear. I am proud to cosponsor the VIP Act, which rightfully gives free access to National Parks for our military servicemembers, veterans, and Gold Star Families. In Congress, I will continue to fight to ensure our servicemembers and veterans receive the services and support they earned,” said Garcia.

As a former U.S. Naval fighter pilot who flew over 30 combat missions in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Garcia has been a strong advocate on behalf of veterans, servicemembers, and their families.

Earlier this year, Garcia introduced the bipartisan Military Spouse Licensing Relief Act of 2021, which allows military spouses to retain their professional license when moving on military orders.
