The Daily Caller released a documentary on the illegal marijuana grows in California’s High Desert. Recently, Representative Mike Garcia (CA-25) brought the Daily Caller’s Jorge Ventura, a Palmdale native, out to the Antelope Valley to continue to shine a spotlight on the illegal marijuana grow crisis that continues to directly impact Californians in the Antelope Valley, Acton, Agua Dulce, and surrounding areas. Ventura and Garcia met with Californians impacted by the problem and discussed what needs to occur to fully combat the problem. 

The documentary details how the illegal marijuana grows and the transnational criminal organizations running them are taking over parts of California’s 25th District, what’s been done, and what still needs to be done to combat the problem. Following the release of the documentary, Garcia released a statement on his continued commitment to combating the illegal marijuana grow operations in the Antelope Valley, Acton, Agua Dulce, and surrounding areas. 
 
“What has taken place in the backyard of California’s 25th Congressional District is a true national security threat and an example of how our failure to secure the border is impacting communities across America, not just in border towns. These international crime organizations are stealing our water, our land, and threatening local community members— all while using free labor in the form of indentured servants,” said Garcia. “While I am extremely grateful for the successful operation our local, state, and federal law enforcement officers conducted in June, there is more work to be done. I fully recognize that this problem still exists, and I plan to continue to shine a spotlight on it until it is eradicated.” 
 
Since hearing of the illegal marijuana grows taking over parts of California’s 25th District, Garcia has actively worked with local, state, and federal officials; held roundtables with community members; and utilized his position on the House Appropriations Committee to provide essential funding for law enforcement. Garcia has also worked to build local and national awareness on the issue. Garcia first brought national attention to the problem in May. A month later, Garcia was on the ground with local, state, and federal law enforcement officers as they conducted the largest illegal drug raid in LA County history, confiscating $1.2 billion in illegally grown marijuana. 
 
“I am grateful to The Daily Caller for their work on this documentary revealing to a much broader audience the threat these illegal marijuana grow operations pose to our communities,” said Garcia. “Unless you are directly threatened by the issue, you may remain unaware of the crisis at hand. It is important that more people become aware and vigilant in watching out for these major operations. I will continue to do everything I can to combat this crisis we face in the beautiful High Desert.”
