Mike Garcia Commemorates National Police Week, Honors Sergeant Steve Owen

Representative Mike Garcia commemorated National Police Week by attending a wreath laying ceremony at the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial in Washington, D.C. At the memorial, he laid a wreath in honor of the Antelope Valley’s fallen Sergeant Steve Owen.

“This National Police Week, we honor and reflect on the service and sacrifice of our law enforcement officers, especially the fallen who were killed in the line of duty," said Garcia. "Sadly, many of these brave men and women have been killed in the line of duty. Sergeant Steve Owen, who served our community in the Antelope Valley, was one of the brave law enforcement officers who we lost in recent years. For National Police Week, I laid a wreath down in his honor at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. While we will never be able to fully repay the debt we owe the brave men and women who were killed in action while protecting our community, commemorating their life and supporting those who continue to serve in law enforcement are small ways we can honor their service. We must do more to support them, thank them, and honor them. We must defend, not defund, the police. God bless all who have answered the call to serve in law enforcement, thank you for keeping us safe.”
