Representative Mike Garcia (CA-25) announced that the Congressional App Challenge is now open to all middle and high school students in the 25th District of California. Students entering the competition must register online and submit their app by November 1st, 2022.
“The Congressional App Challenge is an opportunity for students in California’s 25th District to showcase their skills in computer science and coding,” said Garcia. “After seeing the incredible apps students designed last year, I look forward to seeing the entries this year.” Officially launched by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2015, this nationwide effort allows students to compete against their peers by creating an application for desktop/PC, web, tablet, mobile, Raspberry Pi, or other devices. Any programming language, such as C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or “block code” is accepted. The challenge is designed to promote innovation and engagement in computer science. Chosen by a panel of expert judges, the winner from California’s 25th District will be featured on the Congressional App Challenge website. In addition, the winning app will be eligible to be on display in the U.S. Capitol, alongside other winning apps from across the country.
