KHTS: Congressman Garcia Introduces Bill To Strengthen Environmental Research And National Security

Bipartisan, bicameral legislation was introduced by Representatives Mike Garcia (CA-27) and Haley Stevens (MI-11), along with Senators Dan Sullivan (R-AK) and Alex Padilla (D-CA), with the goal of facilitating cybersecurity and telecommunications upgrades for the 17 oceanographic vessels that make up the U.S. Academic Research Fleet (ARF).

Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, called on Chiquita Canyon Landfill to cease operations while the facility addresses its growing problems, during a virtual address to the landfill’s Community Advisory Committee on Tuesday night, acknowledging county and state regulators’ growing frustration over problems at the Castaic facility.

Mike Garcia and Harlan Levine, president of health innovation and policy at City of Hope, cut the ribbon in celebration of City of Hope’s new mobile cancer prevention and screening clinic on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024 in Lancaster. Rep. Garcia used earmark funds to cover the cost of the mobile clinic truck which will begin seeing patients on March 19 in the Wesley Health Center parking lot in Lancaster.
