WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tuesday, Representative Mike Garcia (CA-25) voted in favor of H.R. 1799, the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Extension Act of 2021. There are still hundreds of billions of funds left in the PPP and this bill would extend the PPP loan application deadline from March 31, 2021, to May 31, 2021. The extension will allow more small businesses to get the targeted relief they need. “Small businesses are the backbone of our community, and in California, they have been hit especially hard due to our state’s lockdowns,” said Garcia. “With much of our community in California’s 25th District still under strict restrictions and unable to fully reopen, we must ensure that PPP remains available. I am glad the House was able to pass this bipartisan bill, which will enable necessary support to continue to flow to small businesses. This bill will help businesses in California’s 25th District receive the relief they need as they begin to safely reopen again.” Earlier this year, Garcia held a series of roundtable discussions with local business owners and administrators on the PPP.
