Representative Mike Garcia (R-CA) released the following statement after Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) appointed him to serve on the bicameral Conference Committee to negotiate legislation to combat China and increase American competitiveness.
 
“China remains America’s greatest threat,” said Garcia. “It is imperative that America does all we can to stay ahead of China while simultaneously increasing American competitiveness. We can’t let anything distract our nation’s focus from remaining on China. I look forward to participating in the negotiations surrounding the legislation to combat China and increase America’s competitiveness. As a member of the Energy Subcommittee on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, I will be especially focused on what we are doing to increase America’s energy independence and stop overreliance on our adversaries for our energy needs. It is also imperative we ensure our nation’s defense sector is fully supported and remains ahead of China.”
